Westford Water Conservation

AN INFORMATIONAL PAGE ON WAYS TO CONSERVE WATER AND IRRIGATE WISELY

Why save water in the first place?

This is a question I got from countless members of our community when I started this project. A sixth grader even asked me, “Isn’t water reusable? Why should we save it?” The simple answer is, there are numerous corporations using gallons of water and chemically treating it. This makes the water unusable. To create the clothes we wear and the products we use, millions of gallons of water are used and made nonreusable. Saving water as much as you can is important for not wasting the water we have left. Saving water can even reduce your overall carbon footprint and help keep more water in the ecosystems around us. Specifically, in our community, we go into a drought every summer because of excessive water usage throughout the year. We can avoid this if we collectively conserve as much water as we can. Conserving water is the responsible thing we can do as privileged citizens who are lucky enough to get running water every day. Conserving the usable water we have is extremely important to ensure a safer planet in the future.
